Like the Italian sailors of the last century!
The Pidocchiera is a pure wool sweater that has always been part of our production. It was the garment worn by Italian sailors from the major shipping companies, to whom we supplied these sweaters throughout the 20th century. Its curious name—literally meaning “louse sweater”—comes from the fact that, in the past, the wool was so coarse it caused itching, giving the sensation of having lice.
Today, of course, the fabric is much more comfortable, but the sweater still preserves all the features that made it an icon of Genoese maritime style and of the Lucarda brand.
