The Boxer shirt, a brand owned by Lucarda, was created in the 1950s–60s to clothe the workers of the Port of Genoa. It was revived by Uncle Giorgio, who took inspiration from American prison shirt designs. In a short time, the Boxer shirt became a style icon among Genoese youth and beyond: Lucarda began distributing it in France—at Les Galeries Lafayette in Paris—and throughout Italy.
The original was made in denim-colored Zephir cotton, but today we also produce it in various cotton and cotton/linen blend colors. Its signature detail has always been the red buttonhole on the pocket, over the heart.
