“Lucarda is family, it is history, it is Genoa. Lucarda is the view from the port, the gaze turned toward the horizon and the infinity of the sea.”

Lucarda is a historic shop in Genoa, passed down from generation to generation by the Lucarda family since 1920. From the very beginning, it has specialized in producing workwear for dockworkers and sailors, soon after establishing itself in the world of casual clothing becoming a style icon for the people of Genoa and all Italians. For over 105 years, we have been dressing men and women of the sea, transporting the quality of our Made in Italy garments beyond national borders. Today our heritage is the beating heart of our business: we proudly preserve tradition while continuing to offer our iconic garments with an ever-forward-looking vision.

“Lucarda represents maritime tradition, and for me, wearing a Lucarda garment means belonging to that world—sharing the same dreams.”

Our Creations

Iconic garments by Lucarda, Boxer, and La Gritta

In the 1900s, Lucarda began selling to Italian sailors and dockworkers. Meanwhile, the Sottoripa shop had become a landmark for young Genoese—there, you could find everything! Uncle Giorgio experimented, creating garments in vibrant colors, and the store soon became an icon of the era. Since then, some of our products have become symbols of tradition, style, and originality. Even today, we produce Lucardine, striped sailor t-shirts inspired by the traditional cut of the merchant navy; Pidocchiere, made from coarse wool; Camugin, the historic fisherman’s hat; and the Boxer Shirt, originally designed as workwear but now a must-have. And there’s much more! Our creations draw from the past while looking simultaneously towards the future. Lucarda is also a research lab for innovative materials and styles. All our products—Lucarda, Boxer, and La Gritta— are proudly Made in Italy, and are often even Made in Liguria!

Lucarda is Culture

A synonym for history and seafaring tradition

Lucarda is not just a store—it is a world of its own. It has shaped entire generations of Genoese and is deeply embedded in the collective imagination, both within the city and beyond.. Over time, it has become synonymous with Genoese identity, a reference point for a certain style of clothing, and a symbol of maritime tradition.Aware of this heritage and the value of Historic Shops, we are committed to promoting initiatives and projects that highlight our journey and that of the maritime world, the context in which our products belong. Our love for Liguria and Genoese identity is also reflected in activities dedicated to the art and culture of our city.

A space dedicated to cultural production.
