History, Art, and Culture in the Store of the Seafaring People
Over the past 100 years, Lucarda has witnessed the changes that have affected not only fashion but also navigation, the port of Genoa, the historic center, and the city in general. Today, entering Lucarda means taking a dive into the past: a living archive displaying vintage garments, historical supplies, and objects of cultural relevance. The interiors, from the sign to the upper floor, have remained unchanged since the beginning and reflect the Genoese style, enriched with relics from the era of ocean liners and other historical events. Lucarda is both history and culture. Aware of its significance, the shop is involved in projects aimed at preserving and promoting cultural production, collaborating with artists and local institutions. Additionally, we welcome guided tours organized by entities such as Arte e Musei Italia.

Our Exhibition, now virtual
An Anthropology of life at sea
The Anthropological Exhibition “I Venti del Mare” (The Winds of the Sea) was organized at the Galata Museum of the Sea – MUMA Genoa (the largest maritime museum in the Mediterranean) to celebrate the centenary of the shop, honoring the men and women of the sea who bought and wore Lucarda. Their lives have intertwined with the shop’s history for an entire century. The exhibition is permanently on display in the shop and is also available in a digital version.
NOTE: the exhibition is in Italian language only.
The "Old" Genoa of Luzzati in the Shop

Emanuele Luzzati, the renowned Genoese artist, created a series of drawings between 1945 and 1950 dedicated to the “old” Genoa. Through these works, he depicted the atmosphere of the city, capturing the essence of its historical and cultural heritage, highlighting its charm and identity. Among the subjects portrayed is the Lucarda sign, a symbol of a tradition that has always lived in the imagination of the Genoese. To celebrate and spread this important artistic heritage, a collaboration was formed between Lucarda, Casa Luzzati, and the Lele Luzzati Foundation. This project merges art and culture, while also emphasizing the fundamental role of Historic Shops in preserving and transmitting the city’s memory. Inside the shop, seven reproductions of this fascinating series will be permanently displayed. This is a unique opportunity for visitors to immerse themselves in Luzzati’s artistic heritage and rediscover Genoa through his perspective, within the walls of a building that continues to tell the story of the city today.
